All you need to know about cursors in t-sql.

You should never need to use an explicit cursor in t-sql and it is usually a very bad idea.
A system that abounds with cursors is an indication of possibly poor design and definitely poor implementation.
Stay away from this system and beware of anything said by the developers.

Cursors force procedural processing which has no place in a relational database.
